Metaverse
A non-binary road
Keywords:

The scope of this academic paper consists of a critical analysis and approach about the contemporary phenomenon of the Metaverse and its theoretical and practical implications in some areas, such as Art, Psychoanalysis, Sociology, Philosophy and the Law itself. The notes included in this academic paper stem from a premise beyond a conventional binarism that usually permeates the topic between what is "real" and "virtual" in the Metaverse. To achieve that, the Metaverse prism was approached under four main perspectives, which interconnect and complement each other, but at the same time, cannot be mistaken: a) the umbilical relationship between art and the concept of Metaverse; b) the projections of the conscious and unconscious mechanisms in the Metaverse; c) the evaluative analysis of the Human Being, Humanity (in a collective point of view), the Person (singularities and subjectivities) and the Projections within the Avatar’s concept of existing in the Metaverse; and, finally, d) the intersection between the Law and the Metaverse through the Evidence Theory. Ultimately, this academic study does not intend to provide absolute answers or even to exhaust such a vast and complex theme, but rather to bring to light discussion points that may enlighten on how we can understand this new reality that is increasingly present in the broadest aspects of our experience and coexistence in society.
