On the theory of secularization

Abstract

At the international meeting "Globalization, Values and Pluralism" held from July 14 to 16 in Shanghai, China, one of the main topics discussed was secularization and sacralization. The University of Shanghai (the institution organizing the event) seeks to develop the academic study of religious phenomena similar to the organization of this field of study in North American universities. Here the object of study is religious and the perspectives are multidisciplinary. This paper was presented at the conference.
